Sections and working groups

At present, the society consists of three main groups.

The group of clinical research is carrying out scientific and research work in different fields of cardiology, it also investigates problems of obesity, metabolic syndrome and type II diabetes. This group participates in organizing scientific and practical expeditions in different regions of Kyrgyzstan for studying epidemiology of noninfectious diseases and arranges screening of the main risk factors of CVD among the population. Another direction in the activity of this group is participation in working out educational programs, clinical manuals and protocols and other instructive materials in different fields of cardiology, as well as conducting lectures and educational seminars for doctors, students of higher medical institutions and residents. Experts of this group also take an active part in propaganda of healthy way of life and introduce the measures of primary and secondary prophylaxis of CVD among population.

The group of fundamental research. The main directions in the activity of this group are the study of biomarkers and genetic factors causing the development of CVD, pulmonary arterial hypertension, acute and chronic mountain diseases, metabolic syndrome and associated diseases. As Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country and about 30% of the territory of the Republic is situated at the altitude of 3000 meters above sea level, there was also formed a working group specializing in mountain medicine, sleep medicine and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Scientific research of this group is mainly directed to the study of physiological adaptation to high altitude and development of acute and chronic mountain sickness, as well as the study of specific features of CVD in high altitude. One of the latest directions in the activity of this group is the study of interconnection between sleep disturbance and cardiovascular pathology.
